About Sooke Canada Day
Over 50 volunteers make Canada Day in Sooke possible, including members of the Sooke Lions, Sooke Lionesses, Harbourside Lions, Rotary Club, Sooke Community Association, Chamber of Commerce and District of Sooke.
Sooke Lions Club representative Murray Lambert states, “Sooke has so many incredible and inspiring volunteers that touch every fibre of our community and without their involvement events such as Canada Day would not be possible.” He also highlighted the immense contributions of Sooke Lions President, Lion Godfrey, and member of the Sooke Lions Canada Day Committee, Kirk Jacobson.
Although there are no fireworks, there is a live band and plenty of family-friendly activities, and an all-day dunk tank where anyone can nominate anyone to be dunked! Otter Point Volunteer Fire Department returns with their ladder truck and giant Canadian flag and will have the fire hoses out for games of hose ball.
Sooke Lions Club Cook Shack serves hamburgers, hot dogs, smokies, french fries and onion rings at affordable prices. Local grocery stores Village Food Markets and Western Foods donate hundreds of cupcakes.
